State master resigns, overseer to take post

State Master Rob Horgen, elected at the 2007 state convention, resigned his post in a March 28 letter to the State Grange executive committee. The resignation was official April 1.

In accordance with Grange law, longtime State Overseer June Hendrickson will serve out the remainder of the two-year term as state master.

Hendrickson was sworn in after the April 20 executive committee meeting at State Grange headquarters and will be the presiding officer at this year’s state convention in Colville.

A resident of Des Moines with her husband Jack, Hendrickson is a lifelong member of the Grange having joined the junior Grange at the age of five. A certified public accountant who entered the profession following several years as a secondary school teacher, she holds membership in King County’s Steele Lake Highline Grange. Always active at the local level and with the Grange Camper Association, she was elected treasurer of the Washington State Grange in 1987, holding that office until 1996 when she was elected to a post on the State Grange executive committee. In 1999 she was elected to the number-two officer spot for the State Grange (overseer or vice president) and was re-elected in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007.
